Ava DuVernay elected directors’ rep in Academy’s Board of Governors

KATHMANDU: Ava DuVernay is likely one of the six members elected within the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the 12 months 2020-21. DuVernay has been elected to characterize the director’s department.

As a results of this election, the variety of feminine Academy governors will increase from 25 to 26, and other people of color will increase from 11 to 12, together with the three Governors-at-Large, the Academy stated in a press release on June 10.

And reacting to her first-time election, the filmmaker tweeted, “Thank you to the members of the Directors Branch of @TheAcademy. Life is a humorous, fascinating factor. You by no means know what’s across the nook.”

Other 5 others elected for the primary time to the 54-person board are — Debra Zane (casting administrators department), Lynette Howell Taylor (producers department), Stephen Rivkin (movie editors department), Linda Flowers (make-up artists and hairstylists department), and Rob Bredow (visible results department). — HNS
